Martha Veronica Lopez inherited her mother's coffee farm, established in 1903, in the mountains providing a stellar view over Jinotega, one of the most famous and well-known coffee producing regions of Nicaragua. Almost half of the farm is left as natural jungle to protect the environment, springs of water, and Congo monkey habitat. Our Colombian Supremo Seasonal Select Spectacled Bear is back. That's right, Spectacled Bear, not Speckled Bear. What's with the name, you ask?.. A few years back our importer designed the program to give something back for this coffee that isn't known to be sustainably-grown. Doing research on Colombia and the native animals there, they ran across a cute Spectacled Bear, named such because he looks as if he's wearing spectacles! So, they called the coffee the Spectacled Bear and donate money from the sale of this coffee to the Wildlife Conservation Society (www.wcs.org) to study and help save the Spectacled Bear, which is endangered. This coffee comes to us from different growing regions in Colombia, based on crop cycle and cup quality. We think you will enjoy the supremo of a bean.

Guatemala has produced some of the finest coffees in the world In particular we have marveled over this years crop from the Huehuetenango(way-way-ten-nang-oh)region. Don't mistake our new Maui Mokka for your typical Hawaiian coffee. It isn't. The most famous of Hawaiian coffees, "Kona", tends to be very mild- almost to the point of being boring, whereas these Maui grown beans are vibrant and bursting with flavor.

Café Vida comes from the Cooperativa de Productores de Café y Servicios Múltiples de Naranjo R.L. (Coopronaranjo R.L.) located in of the province of Alajuela in Costa Rica´s lush Central Valley. This coop was founded in 1968 by 98 members and now consists of 2,500 producers farming lands less than 1 hectare. Café Vida consists of mainly caturra and catuai varietals that are carefully selected by hand. Coopronaranjo R.L. encourages its members to observe sustainable production methods. The use of agrochemicals is minimized, native species are used for shade trees, and farm byproducts are used to produce organic fertilizer through vermiculture.This wonderful coffee bean from Central America is defined by a floral aroma with sweet nuts and pineapple in the cup.

Brazil is the world's largest coffee producer from South America and produces around 25% of the world's supply of coffee. One of our consistent favorites is a natural Brazil, where the coffee is laid out to sun dry with the cherry on. This imparts a rich dry fruit flavor onto the coffee bean, and adds to the body of the cup!

Ethiopia is the birthplace of coffee. The regal coffees from this country are deserving of such a heritage and stand up to the calling. Referring to Ethiopia as a country of single origin, however, is misleading. Coffees from the different growing regions vary so incredibly that they do not even seem to be from the same plane. This Ethiopian Sidamo coffee bean is fair trade and organic certified.

Rwabisindu is the name of the central washing station where this African coffee is processed. The washing station serves 35 farmers with 80,000 Bourbon coffee trees Emerth & Gaston Gatsinga are the owners of the washing station. They also own a hospital, where Gaston works as a doctor.

The landlocked country of Rwanda is called "Land of a Thousand Hills" (Pays des milles collines). Rwanda is one the smallest countries of Africa and supports the densest population of the continent. Mukashyaka Epiphanie is the owner of the coffee mill and is a genocide widow working to rebuild the specialty coffee industry in Rwanda and the community where she lives.

All coffee is hand milled and hand sorted, which helps to create a coffee that is very sweet with bright bold acidity.

This unique varietal is a look back into the past. French Mission is an original Bourbon varietal that was introduced by French Missionaries in the late 1800's. Over 76 centimeters of rain a year, combined with the deep red volcanic soil and temperatures of 22 to 28 degrees Celsius, come together to provide the perfect conditions for this coffee to express its genetic treasures.

The Harries family has been growing coffee for almost a century. The family has donated more than 50 acres of land to the Thika Municipal Council and co-founded the Wabeni Technical Institute. This institute seeks to teach underprivileged children practical skills that can help them make a living; e.g. dress making, motor mechanics, and carpentry.

Our El Salvador is a strictly high grown coffee bean from Central America. The Los Ausoles cooperative has produced an intriguing hybrid variety pacamara, a tree that produces a large bean. The pacamara is a fascinating hybrid because it is superior in cup quality. In our cup evaluation we noted sweet, apple, ripe, clean and creamy body.

It is an interesting gourmet coffee bean that is soft but complex in the cup. As they say in El Salvador..." Drink it... and Smile"

Tanzanian coffee is grown on the slopes of Mount Kilimanjaro, truly an exotic location for this east African coffee. Peaberries seem to have a mystique about them. What is a peaberry? It's when a single coffee bean develops inside the cherry, instead of the familiar two "flat beans" This gourmet coffee is bright, clean and aggressively complex!
